International News - Mombasa

Mombasa made the international news earlier in November of an attempted hijacking of a cruise ship by PIRATES. Near the coast of Mombasa, a group of pirates attempted to board a cruise ship to no avail. Of concern was that these pirates did not have the traditional swords, but a small missile launcher and other modern weapons. Initial reports theorized that it was an act of terrorism, but it proved unfounded. Mombasa is a major service delivery at the port, but cruise tourists are increasing in its popularity. The government has established a special cruise terminal at Mombasa port for additional safety precautions.
