Jordan Joins the Field Hockey Team

Jordan was selected to join the AKA/M Under 13 Field Hockey team. At first he was very uncomfortable as they only have right-handed sticks in the game. Jordan needed to adjust to the grip and handling of the stick. His position was generally the striker. The team played a few games and played in a tournament at Mombasa International School - Braeburn Academy. They placed fourth at the tournament.

Ty's Surgery

Ty was complaining of a side ache and had an extremely high fever so we took him to the hospital. He was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa. He was required to have surgery later that evening for removal of his appendix. Although this surgery is rare for children Ty’s age (6), the surgery was required and successful.

Ty missed a few days of school and a week later was representing the school in a Costal Swim meet. Ty’s class talked to him on the phone and sent him a get well card.

Nairobi

In early January Scott had an opportunity to travel to Nairobi to visit the sister school – The Aga Khan Academy. It was a good visit to see the other a school – a very small campus and to see some of the sights of Nairobi. The United Nations has a very large building and many international embassies. The weather is generally much cooler than Mombasa and the population is approximately 4-5 times the size of Mombasa.

School Break

During the school break we decided to stay close to home and enjoy the day trips – walks, hikes and especially the water sports. For New or New Years we went to the Voyager Hotel, where we went last year, and enjoyed the entertainment, music ending with a spectacular firework show on the beach.
