Volleyball Trip to Barbados

Scott received an FIVB assignment as a neutral referee for the 2010 FIVB World Championship - 2nd Round (women). All teams/matches were part of the Caribbean Federation. Most of the referees were also from that area.
Scott was first referee for 3 matches and second referee for 1 match. He was fortunate to be assigned for the semi-final (Bahamas versus Jamacia) that lasted 5 sets and under 2.5 hours. Scott was also assigned the final match as first referee - Barbados versus Jamacia. It was also 5 sets; over 2.5 hours; in front of almost 3,000 fans.

The city of Bridgetown and the area reminded Scott of the adventure in Kenya. The sun, sand and people were very similar to that of Mombasa. We also travelled to Harrison Caves - a crystallized limestone cavern.

It was a great trip to lead to the summer.

Speech Competition

Tait, with other Grade 7 students particiapated in a speech competition. Tait used the Martin Luther Jr. Speech as a base - "I have a Dream."

There once was a man who stood up for his and his races rights. There once was a man who was the Nigro leader. There once was a man who stood up freedom and justice. There once was a man and that man’s name was Martin Luther king Jr.

Martin Luther king Jr was born on January 15th 1929 and sadly died on April 4th 1968. His really name was Michael Luther king Jr. But later he had his name changed into Martin. Martin attended public schools in Georgia. He then graduated from high school at the age of 15, he received the B.A degree from Morehouse College in 1948.Than he was awarded the B.D in 1951 with a fellowship award which was won at Crozer. In Boston he met and married Coretta Scott, she was very intelligent and artistic. Two sons and two daughters were born into the family.

In 1954 martin Luther king became the pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Martin was always a strong worker for civil rights for members of his race. During the boycott days Martin was arrested and unfortunately his home was bombed. After that he was subjected by personal abuse. But at the same time he was the Negro leader of his first tank.

In 1957 he was elected president of the southern Christian leadership conference, it was a leader leadership for civil rights movement in 1957 and 1968 martin traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty five hundred times and meanwhile. He wrote five books as well as numerous articles. In these years he led a huge protest in Birmingham, Alabama that caught people’s attention all over the world. After he delivered the peaceful march in Washington D.C of

250,000 people to who he delivered he address to “I have a dream” and hear it is ladies and gentlemen
I have a dream

And as we still face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream and it’s the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up to its full potential and as we hold these truths and to be our self and that all man and women are created equal. I have a dream that one day the red hills of Georgia, the sons of slaves and the former slaves owners and will be able to sit peaceful at the same table together of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Alabama a state with the heat of justice and that state will be transformed into freedom and justice. I have a dream that all my four children will one day live in a nation were not just my four children but NO ONE will be judged by their colour of the content of their character.
